  2. Everyone wants the "survivor puppy"

By now you've probably seen the story about the dog that survived an attempt to euthanize him. This kind of thing is not completely unheard of -- a similar story made the rounds in 2006.  Read more >

  3. Small Blogs: The Art of the Personal Journal

    Diary

I love to read different people's personal blogs (as evidenced by the 239 feeds in my "Personal Blogs" folder in Google Reader), and I think that the proliferation of electronic journaling is going to be a bonanza for future historians. I'm always fascinated by glimpses of other people's lives -- particularly from earlier generations -- and I'm obviously not the only one.  Read more >

  8. Get to know Average Jane

I'm leaving tomorrow for the 2009 BlogHer Extravaganza (BlogHer Business and BlogHer Conference '09), so I thought I'd write a quick introductory post before I go.  Read more >

  9. BlogHer for Beginners

Every year I see several pre-BlogHer Conference posts with helpful tips for first-timers. It occurred to me that I may have something to offer along those lines, seeing as I've been going to BlogHer ever since it began. Thus, here's my take on the subject, in no particular order:  Read more >

  10. Midlife Rocker - Holding Back

Because I’m the frontperson for two rock bands, dye my hair black and blue, and always dress in jeans and sneakers, I probably look like more of a rock rebel than I really am. If only the people who give me funny looks in public knew that I am also known for baking a mean batch of blueberry scones.  Read more >

About Me:

I work as a digital content curator for an advertising agency. In my spare time, I sometimes sing in rock bands, I'm an active member of Soroptimist International of Kansas City, and I volunteer with an animal rescue organization. I've been married for almost 17 years to a great guy who plays drums and runs his own recording studio. We live in a quiet Midwestern suburb with our four cats and one dog.

I've been blogging since 2004 at Average Jane.

Average Jane is a personal blog about my daily life with my bands, doing volunteer work, and being a wife and a keeper of critters. I also use it to post my favorite recipes.

I've been attending the BlogHer Conferences since they began and the amazing people I've met there have had an enormous influence on my life and career.
