  1. The Wall That Heals

Yesterday Hubby and I took Charlie to Sugar Land Memorial Park to see The Wall That Heals, a half scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C.  Read more >

  2. A Robot Story by Charlie

Charlie’s 1st grade class has creative free writing time every week. This is one of his recent stories. At least is not a story about race cars! Robots are a refreshing change of pace. Elizabeth  Read more >

  3. Weight Watchers for me

I have got to start losing weight for my overall health and well being. I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol and am Type 2 diabetic. I’m also clinically obese at 100 pounds overweight.I am a mindless eater. Since I work from home there is food readily available for snacking. Most of it is healthy but not all. I do not exercise. I don’t like to exercise even though I know I need to.  There is lots of stress in my life right now with Hubby’s medical condition, work, PTO and Cub Scouts.  Read more >

  4. Bird Nest Balls

Doesn’t the post title sound sorta obscene?I saw the idea for this activity over a year ago somewhere online. I know I saw examples for sale on Etsy back then but haven’t checked recently.  I’m pretty sure if you Google it, you will find many different tutorials and examples to follow.  Read more >

I officially joined Weight Watchers on April 13.   More on that later.I went to my first meeting and weigh in on Saturday. I’ve lost 4.6 pounds! Yay!Sunday I woke up feeling a little off but went about my day as usual. Weekends are the times I use my extra points because we eat out more. By Sunday night I was sick as a dog.  Read more >

  9. Where do you store your butter?

A few weeks ago I learned something interesting.  One of my sister-in-laws keeps her butter in a kitchen cabinet.  Real butter, not margarine, as in Land O’ Lakes butter.I did not know you could do that. I thought all dairy type products had to be kept in the fridge or it would spoil.Maybe it is a Northern or Yankee thing? My brother-in-law is from Buffalo, NY and they’ve lived up there for years.  I’ve never known anyone to keep real butter anywhere but in the fridge.  Read more >

  10. Cub Scout flag raising at school

Charlie’s Cub Scout group is small. I mean like only 3-4 boys small. We don’t have Dens, just the Pack. That’s okay really. I kinda like the focus on quality instead of quantity. That being said, Hubby as the Assistant Cubmaster and the official Cubmaster in the fall, wants to focus on growing the Pack this summer.  Read more >
