Katie Bethell is Campaign Director and Lead Technical Officer for MomsRising.org, where she works with amazing parent activists who care about issues like Paid Family Leave, Paid Sick Days, Flexible work options, Toxic toys, breastfeeding rights, and equal pay.

MomsRising is where mothers and the people who love them go to change our world. It works to build a nation where children, parents, and businesses thrive; and end discrimination against mothers. MomsRising listens to members and focuses advocacy where we can most quickly improve family economic security.

MomsRising's strategies are at the cutting edge of political organizing in the U.S. MomsRising uses innovative tactics that combine online, on the ground, and media savvy tools to activate our members on issues they care about.

Since its founding on Mothers Day in 2006, MomsRising has grown to over 1.2 million members, all through viral, online growth. As its founding staff person, Katie has had the opportunity to grow with the organization, developing its winning strategies in real time in the rapidly changing world of online organizing.

Katie lead MomsRising's work on the winning Paid Family Leave campaigns in New Jersey and Washington State, and its work on the winning Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act campaign. She currently directs active campaigns 6 states, including Massachusetts, and leads its national campaigns on Paid Family Leave and Paid Sick Days legislation. She loves thinking of delightful and creative ways to harness online power to earn media attention, member growth, and of course, legislative wins. Ask her about burrito-grams some time.
