  1. Baby Steps

I've heard from various sources that mental disorders are hereditary.  All my life I've known that my mother simply didn't get me.  She would become frustrated with me and lash out by saying "you're just like your father!"  Well apparently she was right.  Dear old pops was diagnosed as bipolar and manic depressive back in 2009 and now religiously takes his medication to remain balanced.   And he gets me.  Read more >

  2. "A Thousand Words" With Yoga Master Anthony Williams

Eddie Murphy is Jack McCall, a fast-talking literary agent, who can close any deal, any time, any way. He has set his sights on New Age guru Dr. Sinja (Cliff Curtis) for his own selfish purposes. But Dr. Sinja is on to him, and Jack's life comes unglued after a magical Bodhi tree mysteriously appears in his backyard. With every word Jack speaks, a leaf falls from the tree and he realizes that when the last leaf falls, both he and the tree are toast.  Read more >

  3. Nobody Knows the Trouble I See

I'm going to write a post about how it feels to be depressed. You definitely should. It will touch and reach a lot of people. There is a big difference between being sad and being depressed and folks honestly don't understand. ~ SoJo Diva: I'm listening to Jennifer Holliday. She was so talented that it's a shame she never moved past Dreamgirls. Just like Phyllis Hyman...so talented to be so torn.  Read more >

  4. Trickle Down Economics

    Dry Riverbed

"Trickle-down economics" and "the trickle-down theory" are terms that refer to the policy of providing across the board tax cuts or benefits to businesses and the wealthy, such as tax breaks, in the belief that this will indirectly benefit the broad population. The term has been attributed to humorist Will Rogers, who said during the Great Depression that "money was all appropriated for the top in hopes that it would trickle down to the needy."  Read more >

  5. One Flight Up: Susan Fales-Hill

One of my favorite blogs to stalk since getting a library card recently posted a review of Ms. Fales-Hill's newest book and the description of a crew of diversly sexy women pulled me in like quicksand.  Read more >

  6. 2to2: Going in a New Direction

    Brown Suitcase

I have lived behind a mask for 3 years.  My best friend would always say "you should blog about what you're going through.  So many people can identify." but I blew her off.  No one could possibly identify with what I was going through.  Not only that but do you know how embarrassing it is to be homeless and separated and broke?  It's still something I'm not sure I want to admit to the general public.  Do you know that there are people who come here on a regular basis and keep up with my life in hopes that everything I touch will fail?  Do you know how much joy they would receive in life to know that this is the first "HOME" I've had since May 2009?  I can think of 5 people who have reached orgasmic giddy just reading this so far.  I didn't want to give them that satisfaction.  Read more >

  7. Food Friday: Chicken Pot Pie

In an effort to continue stretching my dollars and saving towards opening my bakery doors, I needed a grocery item that would stretch throughout the week.  You already know the answer to this riddle don't you? CHICKEN! I came up with a list of recipes to utilize my little chicken and the first one on the list was chicken pot pie.  Unfortunately not many of my measurements are exact...but it was so yummy. Ingredients 1 whole chicken 8 cups of cold water Lemon herb seasoning Orange pepper seasoning Onion Celery Garlic  Read more >

  8. 4th of July Hostess Tips

I just heard a commercial for charcoal that will be on sale this weekend in anticipation for all of the grilling that will take place and I thought about all the women out there who excitedly invited over a bunch of people to celebrate the day off from work (I work in a non-stop environment so I volunteered to cover Monday). Those same people will be chickens with their heads cut off trying to make sure everything is perfect. Let me help you out.  Read more >

  9. For Better or a Recession?

I take you to be my (wife/husband), to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part.  Read more >

  10. Christian Assumptions

    Bible

On the red carpet at a very televised awards ceremony, one of the reporters stopped a fabulously dressed blonde actress who, at the time, was the hottest ticket on both the small and big screens. She was ending her TV run and embarking on strictly a motion picture career and motherhood. At the end of the interview the reporter wished her a Merry Christmas and she stopped in her tracks and the dazzling smile on her face dropped and was replaced with stone. "I'm Jewish."  Read more >
