Using a Crib to Store Shoes

My little guy is now sleeping in the toddler bed version of his crib. This means that the front part of his crib is no longer necessary. I suppose I could have put it up in the attic, but that would have been too easy. I was determined to make use of it somewhere else in the house.

Weston (my little guy) would have preferred I keep it in the master bedroom as a fun ladder to get up on our bed.

But I had other plans...

Who would have thought that the front of a vertical slat crib would make the perfect place to display high-heeled shoes in a small closet? I need all the storage options I can get. You see, the master closet in our North Carolina house was huge - like 8ft by 8ft huge. On the other hand, this little rental has adorable His and Her closets in the master bathroom. But even though our previous closet was practically a ballroom, I much prefer my own little closet. I love my husband dearly but I do not love sharing a closet with him.

But along with the independence came less space, which means that my beloved shoe wood storage racks didn't accompany us on our move halfway across the country. As you can see, I still have quite a bit of shoes (can you believe that I donated over 20 pair?) sitting on the floor so I still need to figure a temporary (and inexpensive) shoe storage solution, but the front of the crib is a good start.

To be honest, I need to work on the organization of the closet as a whole. But I have some ideas for temporary storage perfect for a rental...stay tuned!

Do you have a crib front in your closet? How is your closet organized?
