I casually mentioned to H this morning
that we would soon be buying training diapers for Peanut. She pees on
the toilet between one and three times a day now (though she has yet to
poop). The thing is that she doesn't tell us when she has to go most of the time. He now thinks we need to buy training diapers this second. He's driving me crazy.
My philosophy is that when she's ready, she'll do it. She became interested in the toilet all on her own and I see no need to "train" her.I
ask her if she needs to use the toilet when she wakes up, before and
after meals, before and after her nap and before bed. Most of the time,
with me, she says no. She
lets H take her to the toilet more often (I'm not sure why). My method
so far has been to encourage rather than actively "train"...
...Is it worth it to buy "training
diapers" right now? Or should we wait until she is more consistent with
using the washroom? Are they really helpful in "training" at this age?
She can not yet dress and undress herself (well, she can pull her pants
on and off, but she has to lay down and struggle for a while to do it),
so shouldn't we just wait until she has that ability? Otherwise, I
would have to pull them off and on, and I really don't relish the
thought of pulling off a training diaper full of poop (I did that once
with a swimming diaper... it wasn't pleasant).
I look forward to reading your comments!
