Visible Monday, Maybe

I totally get the idea of feeling like you're invisible as a post 50, or even 45, year old woman.  I did a video on it. You can see it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egpkio48dxI     I know a lot of women feel this and it can't help but impact us.  As if we need anything more to make us more insecure, have low self-esteem, etc., etc.  Social media may hold answers for thoe of us suffering from invisibility syndrome.  I like the interaction that social media provides especially because I feel isolated where I am presently living and with a husband who has everything but me as his priorities.  In my social media socializing, I recently came across http://notdeadyetstyle.blogspot.com/  and http://www.over50feeling40.com/

These women are supporting something called "Visible Monday".  Women post a picture of themselves in an outfit that counters the invisible aura by giving them confidence.  This sounded fun and I wanted to join.  But, clothes never made me feel more confident.  I always thought they would and I'd go out and but really nice outfits but it didn't help.  The problem was deeper.  Even in those nice clothes, it was me, unconfident me, dressed in them.  Sometimes, wearing clothes that I thought brought attention to myself actually made me feel less confident.  I don't want anyone to look at me.  In a way, I want to be invisible.  What boosts my confidence is when I do something that I feel good about.  I have felt good about doing my YouTube channel.  Even though I don't have a lot of subscribers and none of my videos have gone viral, I want to keep plugging away at it.  The people who do watch and comment on my videos make me feel less invisible and watching myself brings a smile to my face.  Who could ask for anything more.
