Just ten days after Americans celebrate Independence Day, the French celebrate le quatorze juillet, the 14th of July, Bastille Day, with parades and flags and fireworks. Not many of us are jetting off to Paris or the south of France this year, but we can -- oui oui? -- we can visit vicariously, by peering into the lives of food bloggers who live in France and French food bloggers wherever they may live and then maybe -- mais oui? -- by experimenting with French cuisine in our very own kitchens.

There are, of course, oh so many food blogs written in French. These ten, however, are written in English.

Chocolate & Zucchini ~ If not the first French food blog, perhaps the best-known, especially since Clotilde Dusoulier has written the ever so charming Adventures in a Parisian Kitchen.

David Lebovitz ~ An American living in Paris, written with style and humor and always, always beautiful.

Chez LouLou ~ For those who appreciate a 'photo du jour', a taste of life in the south of France.

Food Beam ~ Fanny is fixated on patisserie, you'll be licking your monitor when you see her pastries.

Easy French Food ~ Another American in France, this blog features the simple meals that grace the every-day table.

A Foodie Froggie in Paris ~ A local view of Paris, from brioche to an off-the-beaten-path tour.

Garlic Breath ~ A food and travel writer living in the south of France with her French husband and Franco-American daughter.

Thyme for Cooking ~ Stories about the ups and downs of life in France, from drafty houses to French bureaucracy, always told with good humor and a recipe.

Tartelette ~ Another French ex pat whose blog simply exudes French style and beauty, here expressed in pastry.

La Tartine Gourmande ~ A French ex pat living near Boston with her husband and new baby. Recipes are written in both English and French, for those wishing to dip their toes into the language as well as the food.

Who have I missed?
And you, what's your favorite French food blog? Leave a name and a link in the comments!

BlogHer food editor Alanna Kellogg dreams of visiting France again soon but in the mean time, makes do with making ratatouille.

This is a blog written by a retired American who lives in rural SW France. He mainly writes about food & cooking, but occasionally comments on life in France.
Some really goos recipes & they're written so that you don't have to be in France to fins all of the ingredients.

Hi Alanna - I am currently in Paris learning Patisserie at Le Cordon Bleu and blogging about it everyday.  I can't wait to share each experience with my readers.

Thanks for the food blogs, I had only heard of one of them in my searches and recommendations.
