The Weather Outside is Frightful, Time to Get Out the Crockpot!

It has been freezing cold with snow here since the weekend, I think it was around 6 degrees when I got up this morning! Boo this is way to cold for me. But it is the perfect weather for cooking with your crockpot. There is nothing better than coming home on a cold night to a warm kitchen with a simmering crockpot.

A crockpot is a great way to save time to cook your meals and it's so easy to use. If you plan ahead, you can mix up the ingredients the night before, throw them in your crockpot and then store it in the refrigerator over night. Leave yourself a note so you don't forget and put the crockpot on before you leave in the morning. Turning it on low will let it cook all day and by the time you get home, you have a fully cooked meal!

If you have trouble with your crockpot cooking to fast, make sure you are using the right size crockpot for what you are cooking. If you have a large crockpot, but half it filled halfway or less, it will cook too fast and your food will burn.

Here are some of my favorite crockpot recipes:

Crockpot BBQ Pulled Pork -  This is probably one of my most favorite recipes of all time. I generally make this with beef but it's just as good with pork or chicken. This smells so good when it is cooking!! It takes awhile to cook and I'm always so hungry by the time it's done because I've smelled it all day! One thing I do to make it cook faster, is cut it up into larger chunks. It cooks faster and is easier to shred.

Chili - Chili is the obvious and easy meal to make in a crockpot, I tend to make this too much so I try to find other creative crockpot meals :)

Tangy Asian Meatballs - I haven't made this yet but it looks so good, I can't wait to try it.

Beef Roast - This is a pretty easy recipe to make. Just put your roast in the crockpot, pour 1 can of beer over it and add a package of italian seasoning and onion soup mix. Let cook 6-8 hours on low until done. Shred and eat with marinara sauce and mozarella cheese on hoagie rolls. YUM!

Cuban Black Beans - Yummy, I love black beans and these are so good!

Crockpot Lasagna - Lasagna is so good in the crockpot! It tends to cook in a few hours so make sure you watch it so it doesn't burn.
