There's no doubt it's strawberry season in the U.S. Every time I check my feed reader to see what fellow bloggers have been cooking, I see bright red strawberries being used in interesting ways. Alanna has already given us ideas for Fabulous Strawberry Desserts, but if you're lucky enough to have plenty of strawberries where you live, here are suggestions for other strawberry dishes you might want to add to the menu for this weekend.

I like fruit but rarely make dessert, so if I had some juicy strawberries, something like this Strawberry Asparagus Salad from Dianne's Dishes would be just the way I'd love to use them.

Strawberry and Orange Juice

It's a combination I don't think I've ever seen before, and the Strawberry and Orange Juice from The Greedy Gourmet sounds like it would be very refreshing.

Strawberry Rhubarb Scones

Strawberry Rhubarb Scones from Foodie Reflections combine two seasonal ingredients to create a scone that looks perfect for breakfast.

Strawberry Risotto

Another idea I haven't seen before is the Strawberry Risotto with Balsamic Vinegar from Lucullian Delights, which sounds like it would make a very interesting side dish.

Strawberry Brunch Tart

Finally, Strawberry Brunch Tart from The Hungry Mouse might sound like a dessert, but seasoned with thyme and cardamom and with a puff pastry crust, this is more like a danish.

~Pork Tenderloin with Strawberry Mango Salsa from Food Blogga
~Strawberry Lemonade from Novel Eats
~Goat Cheese Omelet with Strawberry Balsamic Sauce from Mele Cotte

I'm sure BlogHer readers must have even more interesting and unusual ideas for things to do with strawberries, so please share your links or recipes with us in the comments!

(Every Thursday night on BlogHer, we spotlight five recipes with a common theme for a feature called Weekend Menu Planning, hoping one of them might make it onto the menu at your house. You can find previous recipes shared by clicking the tag Weekend Menu Planning.)

I've never tried strawberries with spinach but I'm thinking it sounds good.

I rarely think to use strawberries this way, but I love a spinach salad with them topped with a balsamic vinaigrette. Although, I usually end up eating them plain before they even make it into such a simple salad.

But I sure as heck want some right now!!!

My favourite is sliced strawberries on sweet biscuits topped with whipping cream. (We never did bother whipping the cream in my family, we just poured it over.)

I just adapted a recipe from Domestic Refelctions ( http://domesticreflections.blogspot.com/ ) for a strawberry pie. Blackberries were on sale and I had half a container of blueberries sitting in my fridge, so I combined them with the strawberries to make something that I hope is delicious. Here's the original recipe plus my notes ( http://bit.ly/TePz4 ).

I'll let you know how it turns out- it's for a bbq tomorrow. It's killing me that I can't take a little bite right now!

One of my favorite easy desserts is the classic strawberries with balsamic vinegar. Cut some large strawberries in half, drizzle with balsamic and the tiniest bit of sugar to balance the acidity, and let macerate for an hour before serving. A bit of vanilla frozen yogurt on top is never unwelcome!

They seem to really bring in the summer.  Some of these recipes are crazy!  I'll have to try them!  I like my strawberries sliced on French bread smothered with Brie cheese.  Yumm!
