Even though the seasons don't actually change for several weeks, most people regard Labor Day as the unofficial end of summer. It's also one of those traditional grilling holidays when just about everyone who has a grill will be firing it up. Burgers on the grill are such a timeless summer tradition that it seems only fitting I share some new burger options you might like to include on your menu this holiday weekend.

Let's start with Blue Cheese Stuffed Burgers from Sarah's Cucina Bella. Sarah first made these on a night when it was so hot she didn't feel like cooking, but she had burgers on her menu, so she went ahead with the plan. Apparently the blue cheese burgers were worth the trouble, because Sarah reports she's had them several times since.

Terry from Blue Kitchen makes Spicy Turkey Burgers with cumin, chile powder, and a bit of jalapeno pepper sauteed and mixed into the meat. For another spicy touch, Terry suggests serving them with a bit of salsa on the bun.

Frantic Home Cook also has the spicy thing going on with Crusted Poblano Burgers, with a grilled poblano chile pepper tucked inside the meat. This burger is also served with salsa.

Another spicy burger option is the Jamaican Jerk Burgers from Simply Recipes. Jerk seasoning is a spice mix that's made fiery by the addition of Scotch Bonnet peppers, and just a little goes a long ways. In this recipe only 1/2 of a pepper is used to spice up six burgers. The burgers are served with a coleslaw mixture to cool down your mouth.

Finally, Angie's Pangies has steo-by-step instructions for how to make Mom-Inspired Surprise Stuffed Inside-Out Burgers which can be made with ground beef, turkey, or venison.

More Out-of-the-Ordinary Burger Options:
~M. Smith's winning burger in a contest at the Austin American Statesman features white Cheddar, avocado, Hatch chiles, crushed Fritos and cream cheese.
~The Hungry Mouse has Basil and Garlic Pork Burgers, delicious sounding and only five ingredients.
~At A Veggie Venture, Alanna is very enthusiastic (!!!) about Homemade Black Bean Burgers.
~There's another take on Blue Cheese Burgers at Pinch My Salt.
~Farmgirl Susan has an amazing-sounding recipe for Lamb Burgers with Garlic, Shallots, and Feta, plus a recipe for homemade foccacia to serve them on.
~At Delicious Wisdom Molasses Quinoa Burgers are described as "tastiness incarnate."
~Food Blogga resolves to eat more burgers, starting with The Southwest Burger.

(Every Thursday night on BlogHer, we spotlight five recipes with a common theme for a feature called Weekend Menu Planning, hoping one of them might make it onto the menu at your house. You can find previous recipes shared by clicking the tag Weekend Menu Planning.)

I'm sure these burger suggestions represent only a fraction of the interesting and unusual burgers you could try for the last big grilling weekend of the summer. What's your favorite burger to cook on the grill? And of course, if you have a good burger recipe, please share in the comments.

Will have to see what recipes I can find for that!

(Edit)  Came back to say that here are some lamb sliders ( http://foodblogsearch.com/food-blog-search-results... ) recipes from Food Blog Search.  Don't know if any of those are like the ones  you had, but it looks like quite a few bloggers have made them.

The spicy turkey burgers look amazing. I love spicy, and my husband loves spicy even more than I do. I think we are going to try them this weekend!
