Weekend Recap

This last weekend was a big one, so I will go ahead and get started! On Friday night I decided to just stay in, order some Thai food and watch television--pretty much my idea of a perfect Friday night. I got sweet and sour tofu and Thai spring rolls from Manee Thai (I fully embraced laziness and had them delivered) and both were fantastic! Kevin was at a concert at Ravinia, so I had the place to myself. On Saturday, I went to a class at the gym called workout challenge--and was it ever a challenge! Cardio, strength and exhaustion for an hour sum it up pretty well. We used weights, medicine balls, jump ropes and aerobic steppers for the class. Torture, but a great workout and a good way to burn lots of calories before the big event of the weekend, Angie's Bachelorette Party!

I drove over to Lakeview to pick up some of the girls and there were some refreshments and games when I arrived:

And then we were on our way to Milwaukee. Myself, Jenny and our friend Meg stayed at Jenny's friend's apartment and the other girls stayed at the Knickerbocker Hotel, which is an interesting and odd hotel. Check out these pictures to see why:

It was more like an apartment than a hotel, which was nice since a lot of girls shared the two rooms. It was the type of hotel where a lot of the units actually were apartments where people live permanently. It was definitely plenty of space for gift opening:

We drank a little champagne and chatted before heading out for the next adventure, a boat ride on the river and the lake, complete with margaritas. I'm pretty sure everyone on that boat was attending one of the many bachelorette parties going on:

After the cruise, we were still hungry, so we stopped at a nearby restaurant for some delicious tapas and then headed out to experience more Milwaukee nightlife:

Such a good sport!

We stayed at Lucille's, the dueling piano bar until it closed. Some of the girls still wanted to stay out while others were completely worn out, so we called it a night. Those of us who were feeling well enough the next morning had brunch at The Knickerbocker and then we headed back home to Chicago. Fun times, but I was definitely glad to get back home, especially after hitting heavy traffic in Chicago due to a soccer game at Wrigley Field.

I took a much needed, and I think well deserved nap when I got home and then watched the season finale of the show The Bachelorette with Kevin(yeah, I know I dropped the ball on Bachelorette posts, but I will say I was actually happy that Jef won. I feel like I would need to make blogging my full-time job to keep up with that show and now Bachelor Pad, which of course I am watching). Bedtime after that and then back to the daily grind yesterday. Hope you're having a great week so far!
