Weekly Menu: Baby Solid Food with pictures

Transitioning to baby solid food can be tricky. I want to share with you a sample weekly menu for baby solid food. When my daughter, Eden, started on solid food, I struggled to find anyone willing to share what their baby was eating at a particular age. I wanted to know what a typical day looked like for an early eater and only found a few resources, which you can check out from our Feeding Baby Pinterest Board. Over the last six months, I have figured out why: Every baby is different AND Every day is different.

About my baby

Eden started eating solid food between 24 and 25 weeks. We have used baby led weaning, which basically means she never got purees. Her first food was ripe avocado and since then she has explored pretty much whatever we eat, which means messy, but fun, meals. Eden turned one this week. These meals are snapped from the last several weeks and compiled together – so these were meals of an 11 month old, not a first time eater. I wish I had more early pictures of her first meals to share!

About your baby

Every baby is different. Look for cues that your baby is ready to eat and consult your pediatrician before starting baby solid food. Your doctor will also have recommendations for which foods to delay – e.g. eggs, peanut butter, citrus. Every resource out there is different, so it us up to you to make the decision, with guidance from your doctor, when to start particular foods. You will notice we have all three in this weekly menu for baby. We had a one year rule for a few of them and broke it by a few weeks, but had no indication that there would be any allergies or other reactions.

Menu Baby Solid Food SummaryI would like to share that Eden doesn’t often clear her plate (but sometimes she does and then has more). She is also still breastfeeding several times each day and has at least one snack, which I didn’t snap pictures of – typically a fruit, veggie or muffin. Over the next few months, I’ll share more meals and menus, as well as recipes for some of our favorite baby friendly dishes.
