This Week's Backtalk: Body Issues
by SuburbanTurmoil

This week's Backtalk covers a subject almost all of us have blogged about more than a few times:  Body image.

The fact is that once we reach a certain age (particularly if we've carried a baby), maintaining the bodies we had as teenagers becomes far more difficult. Some of us are fortunate enough to love our bodies just the way they are. Others wish we looked a little more toned and trim. Regardless of how you feel, it's quite easy to find blog posts that echo your own personal body issues.

On this episode, the Backtalk moms discuss websites that celebrate women's post baby bodies as well as blog posts in which women come to terms with their shape, and even embrace their physical appearance.

We also talk about another huge aspect of body blogging- using one's blog as a weight loss motivator. Thousands and thousands of women have used their blogging community to eat less and get fit, whether they're publicly listing what they eat each day or joining with women all over the world to lose weight on the same fitness plan or diet. We'll cover a few examples on the show.

Finally, we'll watch a couple of your awesome videos on body image.

Once you've watched, be sure and check out these blog posts and blogs that were mentioned:

My take on this

When you are 50 you wish you could tell the younger women what matters and what doesn't.

Blogged about it as well.

Interesting topic.

Youth never listens

No matter how many times we're told to love the skin we're in during our 20's, we never listen. I need more than two hands to cout the number of friends I have who hate their bodies in their 20's, but who will wish later we had loved our bodies in our older age.

The Image we have of our bodies. Yikes!

You want to know how crazy the whole body image thing is with us mommies? I actually had a momversation with my friends the other day about which was better for weight loss - depression or stress! In fact that's my post today! I know. It's totally twisted. But oh so very true! By the way, depression works best for my thighs. For my mental state...not so much.
