What are they doing with 300 million App's?
By ChakaSB on December 19, 2008
iPhone users have downloaded 300 million and counting applications this year from the iTunes store and when you think about a year that had so many things in decline this is bright spot for developers.
Looking at all the applications submitted every month tells me that Apple's development program has been quite a success. Each application represents a team of people who move a concept to reality and I think it deserves mention and recognition. I am not a big game player but I appreciate the creativity and design that goes in to the creation of these games on a tiny little phone screen.
As more of us have access to these micro life assitance tools (that's what I am calling them these days). I believe more applications with real ulitity function will be created. You can see it happening in the GPS sector of the applications. I like think managing getting where you want to go quickly and with ease is a huge draw for most of us. I just want the steps to be easy and not require me to upload my entire life to use it. It's why I like Urban Spoon, zhiing and Pandora so much. They add value to my day and with great ease. Driving in the car and we want a place to eat - use Urban Spoon to find something quick in our price range. Trying to figure out how to get there use Zhiing and quickly figure out where you are going or how to meet up with someone else. And thank goodness I don't have to join a group and upload my life to use it. And finally need a new mix of music commerical free? Quickly open Pandora and relax.
I am looking forward to the growth of these applications. So let's support this industry - go download an application today!
