Question: So what ARE you doing the evening of Friday, August 6th in NYC?

If you said anything other than: “Duh. Filling My Night With Awesomeness By Hanging With You Guys and A Ton of Other Rad People!!!!“, then (obnoxious buzzer sound) WRONG ANSWER!

The Kirtsy posse has been working like crazy on the BlogHer Kirtsy Party for the last few weeks, and Friends, it is basically going to be the raddest party ever! We’re not even kidding. The event actually has an official name, and it’s a mouthful: BlogHer 2010 Voices of the Year Gala and Art Auction Curated by Kirtsy.

But we’ve just been calling it BH10VOTYG+AACbK for short. Or the BlogHer Kirtsy Party instead. Whatever.

Bottom Line: Make sure it’s on your calendar. You do not want to miss this.

Here’s the thing. You may not have a full picture or comprehensive understanding of the awesomeness, because nothing like this has ever happened before. There’s no frame of reference. It’s like trying to explain Jello, or sushi, or six-story Master Blaster uphill waterslides to someone for the first time. You just don’t get it until you experience it. You know?

Plus, we don’t want to reveal all the mind-blowing excellence that will happen on Friday night between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., because if you’re coming, we want you to be surprised, but here are some hints:

The party is going to range all over an entire floor of the hotel —- with unexpected things to see and do in every section.

BlogHer+Kirtsy=Gala"

In one section there will be type of performance art. By bloggers like Jenny of The Bloggess. We’re not even kidding.

In another section, bloggers like Karen of Chookooloonks (and maybe us, too!) will be wielding a paint brush. You won’t want to miss it, we promise.

Throughout the party, there will be an Art Exhibit with artwork and photography from 150+ of your favorite bloggers -— including superstars like Ree of Pioneer Woman. And each of these art pieces were created with the 90 winning Voices of the Year blog posts as inspiration. Which means: this party might be your best chance to meet your favorite blog stars. Blog Stars who will be at the party, checking out their words and artwork on display.

There will be music. There will be food. There will be drinks. There will be the coolest photo opps ever. And there will be a dozen different ways for you to add your own voice to this Voices of the Year Gala.

Also. During the Gala, there won’t actually be an auction. The auction part will happen a few weeks after BlogHer is over. It will be held online, and everyone will have access to it —- even if they didn’t attend BlogHer. All proceeds will go to the Nature Conservancy to assist with Gulf clean-up. Doesn’t this make you feel awesomely proud of this community?! Fabulous!

At BlogHer, there has always been a big Friday night party after the Community Keynote, and it’s always been a lot of fun. But we’re telling you, this is a completely new event. Kirtsy pulled in party planner of the stars, Jordan of Oh Happy Day, to help. And friends, she is an event genius. It’s going to blow your mind. And your head. And your brain.

We are so freaking excited about this ... and all the great artists and beauty and charity and FUN! ... that we’re just about to explode.

When you make your Friday night BlogHer plans, put the Gala at the top of your list. We can’t wait to see you there!

P.S. — Are you going to the party? Are you being honored at the party? Fantastic! Pick up some blog bling here (scroll down) .

I have loved watching a woman in our office with a gorgeous eye working on her piece. What an amazing endeavor and such an unexpected approach to interlacing the different disciplines and perspectives.
Cannot wait!

I'm so sad that I'm not going to BlogHer this year, so I'm super HAPPY that you are having the auction after the fact so that people like me can participate. Thank you for thinking of that!!!!! :)

Have so much fun for me. And take lots of pictures!

FireDad has shown an interest in going next year. So I'll be interested in how Fake Husband does.

The BlogHer Voices of the Year really is about why we all DO this. This year the fake husband will be able to go (thank you BlogHer goddesses for that) and while he's always been super-supportive (he really, really is) I don't think he's every really gotten it. I'm really hoping that he sees what we all see and feel at this event.

That I'm actually worried that there's no way it could compare to how awesome I think it will be. Then I think about who's planning it and I realize, IT WILL BE AWESOMER.
