We are two days away from what is arguably the biggest game of the year. The New England Patriots and the New York Giants will be facing off at Super Bowl XLII. They will be playing in Phoenix, Arizona at the University of Phoenix Stadium.
Normally I get really excited about the Super Bowl, but I am getting really tired of the Patriots winning everything. Sorry New England fans, but I think the same team winning all of the time is boring. It almost seems fascist. (Yes, I know that isn't what that word means - but think "Bull Durham")
I may have mentioned in the past that I am terrible at entertaining. I have no idea how to invite friends over unless it involves a play date or a sporting event. Therefore, you can be sure that during the Super Bowl there will be drinking and eating at my house.
This year I am hosting the 2nd Semi-Annual (we missed last year, I must have had a sick kid) Done-You_wrong Chili Cook Off. (If you are local and you want to play, give me a call or send me an e-mail). It is hard on the stomach, but it is a fun idea. A couple of different people bring over their best chili and we eat and watch the big game.

What are you doing for The Super Bowl?
Who else thinks that Mrs. Chicky will be decorating her pregnant belly with The Patriots Logo?
One last question - assuming you are planning on watching The Super Bowl, do you watch for the game or for the commercials?

I'm rooting for the Giants.
I'm rooting for the Giants. Even though they beat my beloved Packers, I have to give them snaps for the game they played. I won't be surprised if they beat the Patriots. Put that Brady in his place, Eli...
Go Pats!
I am all over that belly painting idea like my Patriots defense is going to be all over the Giants.
Brady rules, Eli drools.
Heh.

If it weren't for the whole 19-0 thing...
...I'd be bored too (sacrelidge!). But OMG, 19-0!!!
I am happy that we are playing the Giants rather than the Packers because I have never been able to stand either of the Manning boys and I rather like Brett Favre.
To answer Sarah's question though, my neighbors are bringing over grilled ribs. Mmmmmm. I'm going to try to think of something to do with the 13,000 chicken drumsticks my husband bought.
Frozen Margaritas too, I think.

Lisse, I'm so happy to see
Lisse, I'm so happy to see you wrote that you like Brett Favre. I was almost ready to pounce! ;) I kid. I really wanted my Packers in it. If only to kick some Patriot butt once again. (Am I being too optimistic about their chances? Probably...) Heh. :)
Commercials!!!
I watch more for the commercials; although, I do like a good game. We love the big group parties. This year we're celebrating with the Shriners. My Father-In-Law invited us and we thought it would be great. No clean up at home and lots of die hard sports fans to laugh at through the evening.
What is this "Superbowl" you
What is this "Superbowl" you speak of?

TIVO is my friend...
I know I was already called un-american, but I happen to have scheduled my 5 year old twins birthday party the afternoon of the SuperBowl. At least I made it a drop-off so parents go back to the game...And I am turning the game on at the gym (they have a TV yeah..)
NOTE TO PARENTS WITH KIDS THAT HAVE FEBURARY BIRTHDAYS - check the SuperBowl schedule before picking a date... Or Maybe next year have a SuperBowl birthday party??? What do you think???

Who cares about the commercials? It's the
football!
Watching over Sunday dinner -- just the way we did with my Dad when we were growing up! 19-0 would be impressive, but they're not looking all that invincible tonight!
