What Are Your Favorite Games?

BlogHer Original Post

It used to be that "games" were for kids, but somewhere over the past few decades that notion has changed. People who grew up playing board games like Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit have transitioned to online social games on Facebook, or the latest hot mobile games such as Angry Birds. In fact, games are so popular for both kids and adults that there is an ongoing (mostly unresolved) debate over whether the gaming industry has overtaken the motion picture industry in terms of overall revenue. Gaming is also considered a serious form of entertainment for both men and women. There is no gender barrier for games, and best-selling author Jane McGonigal even suggests in her book Reality is Broken that games can make us better. She should know -- Ms. McGonigal once used game playing to help her recover from a debilitating illness.
