Let's face it, life is tough.  It's a jungle out there, and last week's poll about the economic downturn reminds us that the struggle doesn't appear to be going away anytime soon.  Sometimes we could all use a little personal pat on the back to help us get through the day.  What's your guilty pleasure when life gives you lemons?  Is it a dive into a vat of chocolate?  A trip to the local mall?  Or just some quality time with a favorite TV show or computer game?

One of my biggest guilty pleasures, funny as it may sound, is buying expensive cuts of meat. I love finding meat and cooking up something wonderful for my husband!!! I always wish I had more to buy the rack of lamb, but for now, short ribs will have to do!

My favorite guilty pleasure? A really soft skein of sock yarn. I know it's like $30 for a pair of socks but they are wonderful. Plus it keeps me busy for a while which makes it a bit better.

Uninterrupted time reading a great new mystery novel, with my little dog Lucy curled up next to me ... a glass of bubbly is a nice extra touch!

Wine, champagne, seasonal and dark beers, and cooking and eating! Since I am on the Atkins diet (stupid me...lol!), I am missing my most favorite "guilty pleasures!" I can't think of anything I do that doesn't involve or lead to FOOD & WINE! So I am working my butt off now to get to a point when I can finally indulge once or twice a week. Sigh!

I like to reconnect to nature, so I'll go on an 8 hour hike, just me & my trusty Nikon (and sometimes a hiking buddy who's also looking to reconnect). I hike til my legs shake and feel like they're going to fall off. I hike until I've had so much fresh air & quiet that I pass out 5 mins after we head home.

A couple of my guilty pleasures include being a food lush, and reading satirical internet comics (ex: http://www.theoatmeal.com). Great ways to unwind!

For an especially challenging week, may I suggest the "combo cure". Watching TV, on your iPad, while chowing down on a red velvet cupcake. Maybe some Pinkberry on the side, but that would be too healthy. :)
