If your not a gamer, shopping for one this season might seem pretty
daunting. Don't worry because at GuysGirl.com we have scoured the web
and polled male gamers ourselves to figure out what a guy gamer really
wants.
First we should start off with the hardware. In that I
am referring to the type of console he has in which to play the games.
There are 3 main consoles: The Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii and Xbox
360. If your looking to buy a Playstation 3 or Wii console, I
definitely recommend buying one online. Retail stores like Walmart,
Target and BestBuy all get limited shipments of 5-10 consoles each in
which they sell out pretty quickly, usually as soon as they hit the
sales floor. But if you go to BestBuy or Walmart's
website, they usually have both in stock and ready to ship. You might
have to pay around $9 in shipping but its worth not going to a store
that MIGHT have them in stock and finding out its already sold out when
you get there. Xbox 360's have been around for a few years and stores
almost always have them in stock. Most stores also let you choose
between buying just the console that includes one controller or a
bundle that has the console, a couple controllers and usually a game or
two that is popular at the moment.
Once you figure out the
hardware he has (or wants) its time to get down to the games. There
were a couple sites I found that had extremely good "Gift Guides". The
first site I found is one of the "top dogs" as far as games go. Game
Stop has many retail locations but the online store is where the guides
are at. In the Holiday Gift Guide
section of the website you start off by clicking what game console your
guy has. Once your in this section, GameStop divides the top selling
games into "Kids to Adults", "Teens to Adults" and "Adults". If you
dont feel like browsing the web for a game for your guy then this
website also has a downloadable "Holiday Wish List" that you can print out and hand right to him and he can fill it out himself and then you know EXACTLY what he wants. :)
The best site I found to make a decision on what game to buy was Gamespot.com.
This site also has a holiday gift guide section, but this website is
broken down to the type of gamer you are buying for. Choices include: "Hard-boiled Gamer", "Speed Racers", "Military Buffs", "Dungeon Masters", "Armchair Jocks", "Brainiacs", "Families & Kids" and last but not least "Music Lovers".
Each of these categories will show you the top rated games for all
consoles. Gamespot also polled gamers in each of these categories to
see what gamers really wanted. The following is the top 3 in each
category with the percentage of votes that particular game received.

As
with girls are with shoes and purses, gamers are with accessories.
Extra controllers, charging stations and memory cards are almost always
a must if you dont want to fork out the amount of cash for a console or
game. You can find accessories at almost any retail store. The biggest
selection for those items is a local Gamestop or Bestbuy.
