BlogHer Research published over 40 polls in 2011, and from the responses we now have a pretty good idea of what the readers in our community like and dislike. We've compiled a list of the 10 most popular polls from last year and the results show that BlogHer women have tremendous skills in forecasting what the rest of the country will soon be buzzing about.
The top-rated poll of the year (by total votes) asked what people were worrying about. The number one response for the first BlogHer "anxiety" poll was: Our kids and their future. It also turns out that gooey calorie bombs are our favorite "guilty pleasures" and the two TV shows that have "jumped the shark" are House and Desperate Housewives. The BlogHer community has predicted in a poll that Mitt Romney is the candidate most likely to win the Republican primary. And our favorite actress of all time is Meryl Streep.
One of the most interesting poll results for those of us who work in social media asked "Where did you first hear that Osama bin Laden was dead?" More people chose Facebook (31%) or Twitter (20%) than TV (15%). One of the most contentious polls on BlogHer.com last year was "What's your favorite animal or pet?" Dogs (37%) edged out cats (34%) by a hair!
