What is your dream?
By sweetmummy on October 27, 2007
A few years ago I read a story called The Dream Giver by Bruce Wilkinson. I was inspired by it and I just knew that the message of the book was true for my life as well. The Dream Giver has placed in each one of us a DREAM that excites us and spurs us on toward the things that the He would have us do. I knew that I had been given a dream, but only had an inkling about what the dream might be.
When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a famous music star, like Barbara Mandrell (I loved the fun skits she did with her sisters and all the instruments she could play) or Reba MacIntyre (with her costume changes galore and 'belt-it-out' singing). I really believed I could do that. I started playing the guitar before I started Kindergarten. When I was 9-yrs-old, I started playing the fiddle (no violin here, folks – only old-time fiddle for me). Along the way I picked up playing as many stringed instruments as I could get my hands on, namely mandolin and dulcimer (mountain harp). I also loved to sing and even tried my hand at writing a few songs. Even into High School this was something I seriously considered doing with my future. It was my Dream. Most everything I did had something to do with that Dream. Chorus was my life in High School, both traditional concert choir as well as Swing Choir (where you sing and dance). I sang all the time, every chance I got, and was one of the top-ranking sopranos in the state my Grade 12 year.
