Most people have access to hundreds of different television channels and networks, yet research has shown that they watch less than ten of them on a regular basis.  What if you had to pick just one?  If you were stuck on a deserted tropical island for a whole year, and (for some strange reason) had a TV that could only receive one network… which one would you want it to be?  Let us know on the opinion poll below.  And if you don't see a choice you like...please leave your own as a comment below!

It would not be on most of the time, but Rachel Maddow has changed my perception of political news coverage -- from something I need to watch to something I want to watch.

That's why I built the "none of the above" choice just for you Denise! :) I could probably go a whole year without TV, but get a little queasy at the thought of going without my iPhone.

I watch very little TV and can't imagine a TV channel being on the list of things I'd need on a deserted island of any sort.

Yeah, I know I'm not their demo, but I love the CW. Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries and, my current favorite show, Nikita.

TW, unfortunately our poll software limits us to only 10 responses. Which made it hard to squeeze in all the cable networks I would have liked to include. That's why I'm so happy we have a comment feature now, so folks like you can write in choices such as TLC. I would also have loved to include National Geographic, Smithsonian and TCM on the list, since I'm a nature show junkie and love classic movies. :)

Because TLC would be the one I would really want. Of course, I would likely hack the tv for some parts to make some Internet happen instead.

I picked CBS because of Survivor. CNN makes a bit of sense though. I missed it entirely in the list because I was looking for TLC.

USA would be my first choice.

I'd be lost without HBO (Game of Thrones, Entourage, True Blood) but lately AMC has been giving them a run for their money in the quality department with shows such as Mad Men and Breaking Bad. fX also comes alive in the summer, can't wait for the return of Denis Leary and Rescue Me.

...is USA! I love their original programming and their devotion to showing reruns of SVU and NCIS.

I'm also a fan of TNT, but if I could only pick one, it would have to be USA.
