When will we elect a female president?

Let me just start by saying that I am *NOT* political.   At all.  I do not discuss politics with others and even my spouse didn't know who I was voting for until after the election was over.  All that said, I have a lot going on in my head and I need to get some of it out!

When Obama won the election, I heard a lot of poeple say "Now I can tell my kids they CAN be anything!" because electing an African-American man into the white house was such a huge deal.  And, as I heard it, I thought that it was nice and it gave me the warm fuzzies and all.  But then I got to thinking (which is always a dangerous thing) and there are still about half the population that cannot be anything they want yet.  I am talking about the women of the US.  There is no rule they can't be president, just like there was no rule against a black man, but until they see it happen, they will continue to think it is out of reach for all women.

I do not want to discount the racism in America and the strife they have all seen, but it is also hard to be a woman these days.  Maybe the racism isn't there with woman, but they still get paid a lot less than a man IN THE SAME JOB and deal with a lot of things men never have to deal with.  In addition, there is the whole pregnancy and period thing, which no one should HAVE to do but it is expected that all women will and the period thing is a woman's "right" whether she wants it or not.

I am not going to be all Democrat or Republican here, but if a big deal is made out of electing a black man, when will there also be a woman?  And electing someone just because of their skin tone or gender is silly if they are not qualified.  I know there are a lot of qualified women out there, so when will they run and be elected?  Again, I do not want to be all political here, but I saw the ole double standard duing the Democratic Primary.  Whether I like Hillary or not, the world seems to judge a strong woman a lot differently than a strong man and until that changes, we will never elect a woman to the white house.
