So, we had dinner this weekend with some friends from law school and another couple, the husband of whom he works with. There are 5 J.D.'s at the table of 6 people and the two other husbands are plaintiff's attorney's that just received a large settlement. We had a great time at dinner, as we always do, we love this group. However, they still live the upper tier restaurant touring circuit lifestyle that Hubby and I can no longer maintain on one salary. Throughout dinner we were asked about our reserve wine holding and it was proposed that we should all go try the chef's table at one of our favorite restaurants from our days on the circuit. It was heart breaking. Endearing to still be included and a nice trip back to the past, but at the same time I realize that we will never be back in that circuit again.
I am just not sure that our friends have realized fully the income hit that we took. Surely I perceive that they can do the math, it must not sink in to them that we live now on less than 1/2 of what we did 4 months ago.
In other weekend events. Hubby got some really good deals on golf rounds this weekend. It was nice to get to see him play almost as much in one weekend as he used to.
I got stuck in the longest "short" deposition in the world on Friday afternoon. I thought that I would be back in my office by 3 after leaving at 12:30. However, we didn't finish until 5:36 p.m. and I was blocks from home... so I left my desk as it was midday Friday. Weird to walk into on Monday and way less productive.
