When Your Spirit Speaks, Listen & Do
I want to share something that happened to me recently. It's no secret that weird, strange and unbelievable things happen to me but the really cool thing is when I realize the incident has taught me something.
I have a friend who is the kind of gal you can't help but like. I always have a great time talking with her. I remember it was a Sunday morning when I felt like I needed to tell her how amazing I think she is and I love being her friend. I decided to send her an email because I was a bit worried about just walking up to her and saying right out of the blue, "You're amazing and I love you." I didn't want to risk her response being, "I'm married". Okay, maybe that wouldn't have happen.
I had promptings all day long and finally I sat down and typed up a short message to send to my friend. I was looking for her email address when I had the thought to just send the "You are amazing" email to her Facebook account. What started as a few short sentences ended up being a page and a half. I told my friend at least 10 things I admired about her. It was a beautiful letter if I do say so myself! I clicked on the send button and smiled.
It had only been an hour and a half later when I noticed she had sent me back a reply. Her response was not what I would have expected. She told me how much it meant to hear such kind words describing her. She said she read the email over and over again and cried each time. She said she didn't think she had friends and that lately, she felt very alone. I couldn't believe it. I had no idea my good friend felt this way. I replied telling her I was her friend for life and so are many others.
This would be a pretty good story if that was all that happened, but this story didn't end there.
A few days later I saw my friend and we began talking. I asked her if she was feeling better and I told her I had been prompted to send her the letter. She had no idea what I was talking about. I said, "The message I sent you on Facebook? You know, last week...." To which she replied, "I'm not on Facebook."
My head was spinning and confusion set in. I replayed sending the message over again in my head and suddenly I realized what had happened. I was so overwhelmed and focused on the words I was sending her that I didn't pay close attention to WHO I sent it to... But, it looks like my message went to the right person.
I saw the woman that responded to my email a few days later and she gave me the biggest hug. She thanked me again and again for reminding her she has a lot of admirable qualities.
When the spirit whispers to us, prompting us to do something, we need to just do it. I don't always know what will come from following promptings but I do know that those kind of whispers will never steer us in the wrong direction.
