Where Viagra and WordPress Meet

Viagra Pills

Forgive me, but have you ever seen a Viagra commercial?

According to Viagra's official site:

Safety is important. And VIAGRA has an established safety record of more than 10 years. But it helps to know about potential side effects.

The most common VIAGRA side effects are:

Less commonly, bluish vision, blurred vision, or sensitivity to light may briefly occur.

In rare instances, men taking PDE5 inhibitors (oral erectile dysfunction medicines, including VIAGRA) reported a sudden decrease or loss of vision. It is not possible to determine whether these events are related directly to these medicines or to other factors. If you experience sudden decrease or loss of vision, stop taking PDE5 inhibitors, including VIAGRA, and call a doctor right away.

In the rare event of an erection lasting more than 4 hours—also known as priapism—seek immediate medical help to avoid long-term injury. Learn more about priapism and VIAGRA.

Sudden decrease or loss of hearing has been rarely reported in people taking PDE5 inhibitors, including VIAGRA. It is not possible to determine whether these events are related directly to the PDE5 inhibitors or to other factors. If you experience sudden decrease or loss of hearing, stop taking VIAGRA and contact a doctor right away.

You should get this sort of warning every time somebody suggests another WordPress plugin, widget, or customization.

And I hereby officially apologize for ever waxing poetic about a super cool plug-in and not properly warning you about the potential side effects.

Since I've never seen a site that makes these potential interactions clear, I'd like to offer my own list.

The most common WordPress customization side effects are:

  • Headache
  • Facial flushing
  • Upset stomach

Less commonly, blurred visual appeal, missing images, messed up content display, missing content may occur.

In rare instances, people customizing their WordPress sites with new plug-ins, widgets, or other customizations may report a sudden decrease in site productivity and may well experience a complete breakdown.. of the site.  If you experience a sudden decrease or loss of WordPress functionality, slowly reverse the changes you just made, one by one, and see if you can back your way out of the problems.

How to Have a Safe Customization Experience with your WordPress:

When I customize anybody's site, including my own, I take it slowly, one step at a time, and review the site thoroughly after each change to see if anything has changed that should not have. With all the bazillion (more or less) plugins and WordPress themes configurations out there, it's impossible for them all to play nice together, no matter how well designed they may be and useful for somebody else.

If something has gone awry, I backtrack immediately, disabling the new goodie and often deleting the new goodie altogether.

Remember, the site you save may be your own!!!

If you or any of your friends have WordPress, please share this site-saving info.
