Which Way Will They Go? Swing State Updates

Will it come down to Florida again? Maybe Virginia this time. Or Colorado. Or maybe Ohio. Perhaps Nevada. Not as likely Pennsylvania...but who knows.

Yes, these states are the coveted 'swing states' and BlogHer is going to be keeping an eye on them all day and through the night. We'll be checking in on BlogHer's voting there, and encouraging you to give us your take on which way your state will swing.

The pundits are continuously putting these states in and out of 'toss-up' and 'leaning blue or leaning red' categories-however none of it matters until the polls close. But you don't need to wait for those pundits, you can keep your ear to the ground by using BlogHer's Guide to Political Bloggers.

Did you know you can search BY state? You'll notice the super-cool widget on the right site of the BlogHer homepage.

I used the guide to catch the buzz on those pesky swing states as we head to the polls closing.

In Nevada, Reno and Its Discontents notes the passing of Obama's State Director,

"For those of you who haven’t heard, the Obama Campaign’s State Director, Terence Tolbert died last night of a heart attack. For those of us who knew him even a little, this is a truly sad day."

If you are looking for Ohio news, BlogHer CE Jill at Writes Like She Talks has an entire blogroll devoted to the Buckeye state and it's politics.

In Colorado, Rebecca of Progressive Future is reminding readers to vote, "Americans are struggling. We all know that foreclosures are up. More Americans are losing their jobs. And everyone feels the constant anxiety caused by our current healthcare system.

But sometimes the scope and depth of our nation’s suffering don’t hit home until tragedy strikes us, a friend or loved one. And sometimes, if everything is still going well for us personally, the exhilaration of these final days before the election can lead us to forget all the reasons why this fight is so important."

If you were to twist my arm and ask me where I think we'll see drama tonight...my money is on Florida and Virginia. At last check FiveThirtyEight has both those states closer than I'd like to see this late in the game.

So for fun, I'm biting my nails with some comic laughs.

Slowpokecomics.com in Virginia strip this week? McCain's Last Stand.

Stick with BlogHer as we monitor these pivotal states as the polls close and into the night.

*Updated! You can watch the swing states (and the non-swing states) on this map, provided by AOL.

Defining swing by those named in media and by each camp as a battleground. Admittedly PA was the least likely to be a traditional swing on the list...

I don't know who the other 8,000,000 votes in line in Kansas City are voting for, but I voted Obama.

Their strategy has been really groundbreaking. I'm exciting to see if the end result is what they expected.

One of the many great transformative results of Obama's campaign is the realization of a 50 state strategy that has succeeded in shifting the focus towards broader American concerns and not just those of a narrow swath of voters in a couple of states. I think we are in for a re-definition of swing state tonight.

according to the local polls is leaning toward Obama and Tom Udall (D) for the Senate. We have three House seats up for grabs this year, too, but these races are a little closer.
