I know when you’re a small fry in the blog/writing arena, it’s easy to get intimidated and feel left out because those with bigger platforms are being nominated, called out, read, and recognized -- and recognizing their own peers. But hear me: SMALL DOES NOT EQUAL INSIGNIFICANT and is in no way an indication of the value and worth of your work and your story....more
We've already announced the 1st and 2nd excursions for BlogHer Food '13. And as if getting the low-down on down-home Texas BBQ or a food tour as weird as Austin itself isn't enough for a Friday night, we're adding an East Side pub-crawl to the Friday excursion line-up! Join Austinite Joshunda Saunders on a (no-host) pub crawl through Austin's East Side.
Conference season is just about upon us -- and if you are anything like me, you're already thinking about what you'll be wearing as you meet, greet and network with your peers and brands. These tips and tricks will help you pack the perfect wardrobe to complement your amazing personality.
UPDATE: Voices of the Year submissions have closed. Thank you to everyone who submitted and voted!
Today we are thrilled to open submissions for one of the centerpieces of BlogHer's annual conference: The 6th annual Voices of the Year!
The Voices of the Year initiative (or VOTY, as we sometimes affectionately abbreviate it) gives the entire BlogHer community a chance to spotlight and celebrate the work that touched us most deeply over the past year. Up to 100 well-written, thought-provoking, heart-tugging, and laughter-inducing posts and visuals will be honored as the 2013 Voices of the Year online, including one People's Choice Honoree per category, and then in person on Friday July 26th at the 9th annual BlogHer Conference in Chicago, IL....more
Last week, we wrote about one of the optional, no-host excursions during BlogHer Food '13. Another option for our attendees will be to experience some of the eclectic food, music, and culture of Austin during a progressive dinner in South Side of town. This trip will be led by Clay Nichols, an Austinite and author who blogs at DadLabs....more
It's time to get back into the BlogHer Food '13 speaker interviews. This week I am talking with the panelists from our session, The Business Case for Video. Video is a popular and growing medium that is speeding along growth of both blog and business. So i asked these smart ladies:

We've shared some great posts about our attendee's experiences at our BlogHer Entrepreneurs '13 conference. We wanted to take some time and share this new post by Sarah Kimmel at Tech 4 Mommies to inspire our readers. Maybe you have a great idea, but you're trying to talk yourself out of believing that you're an entrepreneur. Maybe, like Sarah thought, you feel comfortable with health insurance and a steady paycheck. But maybe, just maybe, you're lying to yourself. Read on for more inspiration.
It's hard to believe that BlogHer Entrepreneurs '13 has been over for a full week. It feels like just yesterday that I was retweeting a ton of amazing advice from top entrepreneurs! I've been following what our attendees have been writing in their own spaces and around the web since the conference. Today I'm bringing you their thoughts and reactions as they still have a wealth of information to share with those who couldn't attend or those who might have been in a different session....more
On the first night of BlogHer Food '13, we will be offering several no-host excursions led by Austin foodies to give our attendees a sense of the local epicurean delights. One of these excursions will be led by Amanda Cowan, of Food on the Table, to go to one what Bon Appetit crowned as the best barbecue in America: Franklin Barbecue.
Yesterday I brought you Day One in Tweets, and as BlogHer Entrepreneurs '13 draws to a close today, it's time for a look at all things Day Two! It was a jam-packed day full of keynotes, breakout sessions and one-on-one mentoring sessions. I know our attendees are saying great things about their experiences, so let's just jump into what they said....more
