Sex and the City: The Prequel. That's right you guys. While rumors of a third movie in the SATC series continue to swirl (SATC The Triology? Heaven help us) the CW has gone and snatched up THE CARRIE DIARIES, Candice Bushnell's prequel to SATC, which follows a young Carrie Bradshaw before she becomes a quarter of the now-famous quartet with eyes on bringing it's viewers a series of the same name. (A young Samantha Jones also appears in the books, and it's being speculated she'll appear in the series as well.)

{Did I mention THE CARRIE DIARIES is set in the 80's? Because it TOTALLY is.}
Confession: I was not exactly a Sex and the City fan. I blame Kim Catterall. But this new possibility of re-casting the roles that gave so many girls in America a sexual (and professional, and personal) identity to aspire to? I like it. I like it a lot.
And while the web has launched into chatter over who will land the coveted role of young Carrie, the CW's got a track record of discovering actors with chops, and I'd love to see them bring some fresh blood to the network and this show.
For his part, Michael Patrick King (original SATC creator) has made it clear he's got no intention of participating.
Neither 'SATC' star Sarah Jessica Parker, nor series creator Darren Star, is attached to the prequel project so far, and former showrunner Michael Patrick King has already shot down in flames speculation that he might get involved.
"My Carrie Bradshaw started at 33, and I took her to 43," said King. "For me, the idea of going backwards and making her less evolved ... is something that I don't even imagine doing."
What do you think? Do you want to know Carrie Bradshaw as a teen? And who do you think should bring that role to life?
