Who talks about abortion?
by ebonymommy

I often wonder why people say the things that they say. I think about the discussion on abortion and I think its like beating a dead horse. People disagree with this idea, but it makes sense to me. My reasoning is that if you take someone who is pro-life and someone who is pro-choice and let them begin a conversation, it will most likely end the same way, EVERY time!

The pro-lifer will be against abortions and the pro-choicer will be for abortions. At the end of the conversation, chances are that they are both angry and frustrated. Angry that the other would believe something so radical, so insane. Frustrated that they can't get their beliefs across.

Where is the horse, you may ask? It is in between the pro-lifer and the pro-choicer, DEAD, just like the babies they are talking about. The conversation, however, is not dead. People constantly talk about it. Politicians use it to divide people or to try and swing voters their direction. Religious people talk about it when they are letting someone know that they are making or have already made a bad decision. Young ladies talk about it with their friends or partners because they are afraid of the choice they may have to make or they talk about it because its just another form of birth control. The young men talk about it because maybe some young lady didn't go through with it at the last minute and now people expect him to be responsible. People talk about it to try and convince others of what a horrible thing it is to do. People talk about it to start controversy. People talk about it.

After all of the talking is finished, women will still find themselves in situations they don't think they can handle, or maybe they know they can't handle it and will opt for an abortion. Whether legal or not, history has proven that women who want an abortion WILL have an abortion. The abortions still happen. The conversation still happens. The pro-lifers are still pro-lifers and the pro-choicers are still pro-choicers. Since nothing has changed during these conversations, what was the point to begin with?
