Why Star Wars Rocks My Geek Family

The official announcement of the Star Wars VII cast rocked this obsessed Star Wars Family

My family has been huge Star Wars fans for as long as I can remember. By family, I'm including the beginning of our love which was created by my Dad, and our constant obsession of Sci-Fi movies, shows, and even comic books. With the announcement of the official cast of Star Wars: Episode VII, I squeed and snorted with glee this morning. I have a thing for Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca!).Seeing his name listed, officially, made me proceed into a light faint whilst sitting in my desk chair. Then, I saw it. The three names I had been waiting on. The intergalactic trio, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill. They will all be back for the next part of the saga. Let the nerds rejoice!

The announcement of new actors was equally exciting, since new faces really are needed for a new trilogy. But, you just have to love that the creators, producers and director (shout out to the homey J.J. Abrams) are intelligent enough to know that true fans will need more than a nod to the original cast. We need to see them, on the big screen, continuing the story.

As a mom who's encouraging the Star Wars love that my children now have, we will all enjoy that first time we see Star Wars: Episode VII in theaters. We'll also enjoy the second, third and fourth time as well. It will be an epic scene of veteran fans and new fans, sharing their intense appreciation for one of the best movie sagas of all time.  Now, the real question is: how am I going to get my family of (almost) 5 to the premiere? I mean, we HAVE TO go now, don't we? It's Star Wars. Star Wars rocks!
