Winter Is Lingering
It has been so very cold lately here in North Dakota. You hope that one of these days that it will be warm or at least be above zero and lately, that has been rare. It amazes me what a person is able to become used to. If you are exposed to something long enough, you are able to habituate, or get used to it. I am afraid that I have gotten used to the cold which I like to pretend just makes me an all around tougher person. I believe that those of us that can endure a North Dakota winter are able to endure anything that our lives throw at us. It is the platform for finding our strength and durability. Don't get me wrong, though, I love the snow. It is a comforting blanket upon this earth that sees way too much turmoil. Snow represents peace. Peace is the epitome of purity and grace that we all so long for. The crunching of the snow beneath your boots, just like the cruching of the leaves in the fall, takes me back to when I was young. Being young is the greatest gift in the world. I am talking back before your world becomes tainted and before you know crime and hatred exist. I am talking when you can't wait to bundle up to go build a snow fort or to tie up your tennis shoes to go play tag. This freeness and creativity is something that no one should ever lose. So what if your 22 and want to go run in the puddles or trek through the woods in your backyard? Well me and Zayd did just that the other day. I bundled up and we took a walk into the white abyss. Every other step my leg would sink down into the snow but it was worth it. I wanted it to be wonderful and blissful and thats exactly what I made it. What have you done lately that was wonderful and blissful? I would love to hear from you!
