Of course, a large spider web maze for the kids was in store... we just had to! You know how much I love mazes... and spider webs seems to be the theme in our house this Halloween. Plus, I found a super easy way for clean up with Clorox Disinfecting Wipes [who's sponsoring this conversation], so the kids can use markers to go through their mazes now. [Ahem, the kids absolutely love the clean up...] The wipes will be great to have on hand to stay healthy during the holiday season when everyone's coming and going, as well as cleaning up after crafts and activities....more
I used to be indifferent to Halloween and the beginning of fall, but every year I love October a little bit more. All the costumes and parties and fun, festive goodies shared between friends and neighbors has really grown on me and made me welcome the changing seasons and the approaching holidays. e've been working on making our house look a little spookier in anticipation of Halloween....more
A few years ago, before my kids were born, I tore a page out of a magazine that had these adorable Moon Pie owls on it. I tore that page out and said that I would make those cute owls with my kids someday. And that day finally happened! I gathered up all the supplies we needed, and while Hayes napped, Hudson and I had a fun little afternoon activity of making these sweet, yummy Moon Pie Owls together. To clean up our fun Moon Pie Owl activity, Hudson and I used Clorox Disinfecting Wipes to clean the counter tops before and after the activity. ...more
I know it's been said time and again that the kitchen is the heart of the home and I for one truly believe that is the case for us. Our kitchen is a place where we share meals together, where we gather after school while we eat a snack and I get to hear about the details of my kids' day at school, it's where homework is done, and a place where we work on crafts and art projects, it's also the place where we make food together....more
We love Thanksgiving at our house. Saying "thank you" is a pretty big deal. Which is probably why we love Thanksgiving so much. Thanksgiving is a time of year where we get to spend more time reflecting on what we have and who we have in our lives. Everyone likes being thanked. Gratitude is one of those things that spreads and is fun to share. ...more
My boys LOVE fall. It's definitely their favorite time of year. The changing of seasons (well the weather cools down a bit for us in the desert anyway) and the excitement of the holidays. I take advantage of that excitement and try to plan fun activities with friends and family - even just a small little get together can be made fun with a "reason" to get together like this easy Fall Apple Cider Bar.I love little things like this that looks so fun and special for the kids, but that is quick and easy to put together....more
I absolutely love that Emma Ramey is old enough to celebrate the holidays with fun, hands-on activities this year! We kicked off the holiday season recently with a create-your-own snack. Emma Ramey's cousin Avery just happened to be in town at the time, so both girls got in on the fun!...more

When do you define "the holidays" as starting? Is it Halloween? Is it the first trip to the pumpkin patch? Or Thanksgiving? Now that I have kids in school it feels like "the holidays" start with the school year. A change in schedule and rhythm of the day and week kind of spark us into a whole new direction, totally different from the lazy summer days we were just getting used to enjoying. "The holidays" means dinners and parties, visiting and traveling, sharing and giving. Sharing and giving everything. Including germs....more
