So in a few months the “green” tax breaks for wind and solar energy
companies are set to expire. Come 2009, and they will be left
high-and-dry, unless congress stops the ridiculous partisan crap and
renews them. I think it’s hilarious that all these politicians claim to
want to make America energy-indepenedent and green, and yet they won’t
come together to solve what these companies need the most.

From CNN: …it’s the tax credits for renewable energy
projects - currently hung up in partisan fighting over how to pay for
them and in danger of expiring - that those who actually invest big
money into renewable energy say they need the most.

I get that there this is about a 1 billion dollar tax break that the
federal government needs to fund. It’s a huge number. But there has to
be some way of getting it. After all, wind energy alone injected 9
billion dollars into the economy and provides at least 5,000 jobs in
the United States.

For all their talk about the evils of outsourcing, you would think
that congress would get on board with this. No tax breaks means no
investors. No investors means an uncertain market. An uncertain market
means that these companies are going to Europe or someplace else where
the politicians aren’t as daft and it is more lucrative for them to
produce these energies.

Renewable energy companies have had to stop-and-start for years in
this country because of this exact problem. The reason these companies
are finally working out, is due to these tax breaks. If it’s taken away
now, investments and thus projects will just stop.  The companies just
can’t compete with big energy companies without them.

There could be a chance that these breaks get wrapped up in an
energy bill that Congress will take up on September 8th, when they
return.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
