My anthropology professor recently mentioned that men usually are the more dominant sex in certain societies because they are the ones who create and own the ideologies. This got me to thinking, about societies like that of Tunis where women's social space solely consists of the men whereas men can interact with strangers. This also got me to thinking about American society and how our own cultural norms often dictate or influence our actions. Who created these norms? Men? If so, does this mean that we, as women do not own our own identities?
