Wordful Wednesday: Things I Like About Me
By Elena Sonnino on July 09, 2011
I am my very own worst enemy.
It is true. I don’t know about any of you, but I can find something to criticize about myself any day of the week. I have been working on being kinder to myself, focusing on how to reclaim myself on the inside and out, and yet….deep down, I still feel it. Those infected roots that are full of self doubt ready to spring up like weeds for attack.
After reading a post by The Empress last week called “Do We Have to Be Perfect to Accept Ourselves” I realized it was time to attack the weeds at their roots. With all of our might, with all of our power, it is time to really, truly, celebrate who we are.
And so an idea was born. The idea of making a list. A powerful list. A list with no self deprecating sarcasm. A list of love.
This list, will be “Things I like About ME.” The powerful part of this list is that we are going to storm the blogosphere….me, The Empress, and hopefully all of you, with our own lists. Next Monday, July 11th, I will host a link up C.Mom where I hope you will all join in to celebrate, to love, to list all the wonderful things about ourselves.
So please, get your list powers ready. Take a gentle and loving look at yourself and at your life. During a season where we tend to be even more critical of our own bodies, look beyond the basics. What do you like about yourself? Is it your hair? Your smile? Your ability to listen to a friend? Your amazing recipe for brownies? It does not matter how inconsequential your things might seem…this is all about appreciating, about admiring parts of ourselves, about believing that we deserve to feel good about ourselves.
Can’t wait to start my list….and to celebrate ourselves with all of you!
