In the Words of Womyn (ITWOW) is comprised of both writing circle workshops for womyn and online publishing of womyn's writings.  Our mission is to empower womyn, "to give sound to our story and volume to our voice," through the practice, sharing, and performance of written and spoken word arts.

Any womyn interesting in publishing any original piece--whether poetry, short story (fiction & non-fiction), editorial, article, memoir, reflection--is welcome to submit her work for publication.  One goal of ITWOW is to foster opportunities for womyn's writings to be made available to the world at large and one way we accomplish that is through online publication.

Other opportunities include weekly writing circle workshops held at Tia Chucha's Centro Cultural in Sylmar, CA and various other events, open mics, festivals, and showcases.  ITWOW poets have been featured in such events as Tia Chucha's anniversary festival and Celebrating Words Festival 2011; Mujeres de Maiz Womyn's Poetry Night; Womyn's Words and Music Night--a quarterly event celebrating womyn writers and musicians; 4th of July Celebration at Hansen Dam, San Fernando Valley; 100 Thousand Poets for Change; and have been published in such publications as LOUDmouth Zine, an independent publication out of CSU at Los Angeles.

I hope you will stop by In the Words of Womyn, have a read, and be inspired!
