I hear people say all the time they would never have the time or patience to home school. I'm totally down with the "time" thing, but I've always wanted to teach. Guess what? Now I can, you can, we all can -- even if we send our kids to public or private school -- thanks to some nifty downloadable worksheets available via BlogHer's partnership with Education.com.

My daughter is in first grade, so I'll be checking out water-bottle bowling and Post-It Bingo when the weather is nasty outside and I'm dead set against one more round with the Barbies. Maybe Barbie would like to be in fifth grade, in which she can make electricity or write limericks. Or even high school, which I'll admit, I was hesitant about (insert bad memories of substitute teacher high school "games" here) -- but high schoolers can do what we so often do here at BlogHer-- write a letter to their future selves or be a roving reporter.

So here you go! Enjoy yourselves, and trust in your own ability to teach.

Do you like to teach your kids? Or is it your worst nightmare? Share your tips in the comments.

Thanks, this is a great resource. I'm currently homeschooling my 6th grader, and I'm amazed at all the resources out there and all the free materials I have discovered. I have four kids, a home daycare and small WAHM business so it IS hard to find the time sometimes but i LOVE homeschooling him. And with all the online support and resources it's not hard, you just have to make the time.

Thanks for sharing!

I loved teaching my kids, and now I love teaching yours. And yours. And you, too. There's no age limit for learning.

Remember, too, that most of what we need in order to teach our children is already in your home. Don't ever feel that you need to run out and buy a lot of expensive stuff. Ever.

Your pantry and desk contain most of what you need, in fact.

Dear heaven, how I love telling people how easy it is to turn your house into a school/lab. . . .

P.S. Got an old film canister lying about? Let your children turn those into exploding, flying things! (Also good for learning to count backwards, learning about pressure, and timing things.) All you need is an Alka-seltzer tablet, a little water, and the canister. KaBOOM! It's bloody awesome. (safety glasses required.) And now I shall stop before I take over your comments with my childishly unlimited imagination. . . .

These are great! It's so handy to have this at my fingertips here on BlogHer.

I have a BA in education, but never wound up teaching. I am looking forward to doing some of these activities w/ the kiddos.

Thanks!

We home school our children, so it actually works out pretty great...I love it, it's wonderful to watch them learn new things, or the light that comes on when they finally grasp a new concept. I wouldn't have it any other way!
