Movies I Plan To Scare The Crap Out Of Myself With This Halloween

BlogHer Original Post
It's sorta hard for me to believe that Halloween is like next week or something. Not only do I not own a calendar in my new house, I've woken up twice this past week wondering if it was, in fact spring. Part of that is the Midwestern fall, which can only be distinguished from spring by the leaves changing colors, and part of that is that I'm still adjusting to life after separation - my whole world got dumped on its axis, so it's no wonder I'm stuck sitting at Target, wondering if, in fact, the Halloween stuff is somehow leftover from last year.

Alas, I digress.

I adore Halloween -- probably not as much as many: I don't have many decorations up and my "yard" that I now share with half an apartment building will never win an award for "spookiest yard on the block," but there's just something rad about Halloween.

This year, I've decided that it's time to do something I've never done -- something I've always wanted to do. Something that will either leave me terrified to leave my apartment, or make me glad that I'm not them:

I'm doing a Halloween movie marathon. Why? Because it's been on my don't-call-it-a-bucket-list, list for years.

Here's what I'll be watching:

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) - One of the works that got director Tim Burton on the map, I can never quite decide if The Nightmare Before Christmas is actually about Christmas or Halloween. Turns out? I don't care. The animation, the catchy songs (which have all been redone by everyone from Marilyn Manson to All American Rejects), and the story - it's just too awesome to do anything but watch it at least once a year.

NEXT: The Shining -->
