This is a compensated review from BlogHer and Origins.
The biggest test I face whenever I get something new, is "would I buy this (again)?". It doesn't matter if I bought it myself or if it was a freebie -- the issue is, is it worth plunking down for at full price (if it was a sample) or again (if I'd already bought it)?
So far, I have pretty much yet to run out of any color cosmetics (lipstick, blush, eyeshadow, etc.); I've never "hit pan" on an eyeshadow or sharpened an eyeliner pencil down to the nub. That said, I don't really wear color cosmetics every day.
What I do run out of and repurchase? Skincare stuff! Since I do use it every day, it runs out faster. I'm also always looking for something that will make my skin happier, too, and once I find a product I like, I'll keep on buying it.
- I've already mentioned my love of Bliss Clog-Dissolving Cleansing Milk -- I think I've re-purchased it at least four times since I first took a chance on it almost two years ago. It's also included in the Bliss Face Value Trial and Travel set, which is on sale and totally worth it. (True story: I bought the trial size, fell in love with the Triple Oxygen Mask, and had to get a full-size. Dangerous.)
- A PR friend sent me two bitty samples of Origins Night Health Bedtime Face Cream, and I made sure to squeeze every last drop out of them before I went and bought the full-size. It smells great (lavender and chamomile) and my skin loves it.
- Finally, my favorite eye make-up remover are Almay's Moisturizing Eye Make-Up Remover Pads. Yes, they're oily, but that's what makes them work! I tried buying the oil-free and they didn't get the job done as well, and I tried buying the liquid but wound up sticking the cotton pad in my eye (I never said I was graceful). Since I need the long-lasting eyeliner and primers to keep my eye make-up on, I need these guys to take it *off*.
What makes something qualify for you as a must-rebuy? Do you repurchase before you run out so you don't have to go without, or do you wait until you actually do run out to get a new one?
