Would You Give Friends Access to Your Online Accounts?

Facebook has a tendency to roll out ideas and then take them away, so I'm not putting too much stock in their "locked out" feature remaining around long, but it does give food for thought on trust, especially within online friendships. In a nutshell, the site has created a way for you to give three to five trusted friends access to your account in case you're ever in a position where you can't get into Facebook. Facebook will contact these people with code numbers, and these people will pass them along to you, enabling you to prove that you're the owner of the account. Facebook likens it to giving the keys to your house to a good friend or neighbour in case you're locked out.
Three family members -- sure. I could see myself handing out access to my husband and siblings. But if I didn't have family members or if my account was semi-anonymous, and I was dependent on friends who may or may not have my back... uh... no.
And would I want to be chosen by someone else? To have the responsibility of having access to someone else's account? It has happened a few times that I've had to enter a friend's blog for them and post something. Whenever I do, I'm nervous that even though I'm very familiar with blogging software, that I'm going to inadvertently mess something up. By the same token, I don't love being chosen to be the holder of someone else's house key either. It's a huge responsibility to have that kind of access.
Would you use the new Facebook feature? And moreover, would you accept if a friend asked you to be one of their trusted contacts?
