Yes! Marissa Mayer Is Yahoo's CEO
After years as Google's employee #20, head of product UI across its most popular products, and advisor to founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Marissa Mayer has been appointed CEO of Yahoo!
Can I have an "hallelujah!" here, people? Google's first female engineer is now, to quote the New York Times, "one of the most prominent women in Silicon Valley and corporate America."
I'm incredibly excited to start my new role at Yahoo! tomorrow: pressroom.yahoo.net/pr/ycorp/23655…— marissamayer (@marissamayer) July 16, 2012
I first met Mayer when she keynoted BlogHer Business '07 in New York. We were a growing but tiny start-up at the time. Over the years, I've noticed that she's taken the time to support numerous initiatives -- some high profile, many not, all good.

Now, social media, Silicon Valley, and my own incoming text messages are rife with her news:

Marissa Mayer joins a very small group of women who hold top spots in Silicon Valley. Wish her luck! #Yahoo!— MissBwalya (@missbwalya) July 16, 2012
What do you think? Does Mayer's appointment signal a return to technology for Yahoo? Or will an executive like Mayer be the key to allowing Yahoo to do both hot media and cool tech? What do you want to see from her and the company as a user?
