You are Beautiful!

I have been thinking about this for some time now.  I am working on it as a message as well as this blog entry because it has moved me to such an extent I feel that God wants me to say this outloud for someone that needs to hear it.

I was watching a video I had on my Facebook page and it made me really sad- but it was so full of truth.  It was made by Eva DeVirgilis at  TEDxRVA Women. You can go to their website http://www.tedxrva.com/  and check out the organization.  But the video from Eva was on youtube  you can see that here https://www.youtube.coto6w0a13B0m/watch?v=g

What makes me so sad is that this is so true!   I am including myself in this.  If you are not able to view the video let me give you a quick run down.  Eva DeVirgilis is an actor and a makeup artist.  She has made this video during this seminar of women who had or were giving speeches about business and life around it.  When they would sit in Eva’s makeup chair they all apologized for something about their face.  They thought they had a round face or a big nose or were just not pretty.  She could not believe that these powerful, successful women would do that.  She felt her job is to convince us (as women) that we are beautiful.  I don’t know if this seminar is faith based I have not watched all the speakers yet and will try to see what I can find out about this organization.  So know that I am not pushing this seminar or this organization . I found this video from my facebook page and it touched my heart so much I need to write about it.

It saddened my heart because it is something we all do- I don’t know about men.  I am not aware of a great deal of men spending time in a makeup chair unless they are part of the movie/television industry so maybe they do this when they sit in the barber/hairdressers chair. Or this could just be a woman thing.  I will need to ask around and do a survey about that.  But we as women are so bound up in looking like what the magazines say we should look like or videos, or movies that show scantily clad women with skinny, flat tummies and gorgeous perfect faces.

Those pictures are all photoshopped, air brushed, taped, spanx -not realistic at all.  Those women spend hours in the makeup chair.  Not like those of us in reality who have minutes to get ready in the morning. There is nothing wrong with what they are doing just remember they are not the beauty standard we should have.

We are made in the image of God - we are all beautiful without any makeup or fancy clothes to make us look different..

Genesis 1:27

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

We are created in God’s image so we are perfect in every way. God did not make any mistakes and knows all about your life even before you were born.  Remember that the next time you look in the mirror.  God truly loves you - every part of you.

You are Beautiful!

I am praying for you!
