You dropped your phone in the water!

People say don’t panic if by accident your dropped your iPhone, smartphone, BB, in the water, seriously it never happens to me (she says knocking wood in same time) but I would panic, scream, cry and looking for a solution to save it… quickly…

I know toilets are a very common place for those kind of accidents, great!

The good news all iPhone can usually be repaired after sustaining water damage but this must be evaluated on a case by case. If your phone have been submerged in other wet substances chances are your phone has been exposed to moisture and corrosion has begun…

How to repair yourself your phone with water damage?

You will need a sandwich bag, rice, towel and your fingers to cross that works!

Your first concern is how to save phone from water damage. Here are some ways to minimize the damage, and if you are lucky, following these steps may be all you will need to do to get your phone back in working order.

(1) Remove it from the water immediately.
(2) Turn the iPhone off.
(3) Dry it off with a towel
(4) Grab a bowl and fill it with uncooked rice or you can also put your phone in with a bunch of silica packets.
(5) Put the phone in the bowl of rice and cover it up.

The purpose of this is to draw moisture out of the phone as quickly as possible. You can also let it air dry, however the above methods will work faster.

NOTE: Do not dry it off with a blow dryer as this could melt the circuit board and other parts.

Leave your phone in the rice for at least 24 hours and preferably 48 hours. Hopefully, after 24 -48 hours the phone will have dried out, the logic board wasn’t damaged, and hopefully you can turn your phone on and it will work. If not, your next option is to see if it can be repaired without costing you an arm and a leg.

Can a water damaged phone can be fixed?

If you are still reading this, the chances are you have completed the above steps, waited the full two days, but your iPhone still didn’t fire up. Not good, but of course you already figured that out. Unfortunately, if Apple believes the phone has water damage, they may refuse to repair it.

If this is the case, then your best bet is to check out a reputable repair company that uses only certified Apple technicians. The company we’ve used offers FREE diagnostics for the very common.

How do you tell if your phone has water damage?

How does the Apple certified technician determine if your iPhone has water damage? You can do the same thing they will do from the comfort of your own home.

If you look in the bottom of the headphone jack, you will see a white circle. If the iPhone has been immersed in water, the circle turns red or pink.

-If you dropped your phone in water or if you already tried the ‘rice saver’ your feedback is important, thank you to leave a message at the end of this post.

Good luck!:)
