You want to be a Featured BlogHer, don't you?
by DeniseIf you aren't reading this post in a feedreader, you've noticed the brand new homepage design (if you are reading in a feedreader, you should totally come visit BlogHer.com right now.)
There are great new promo boxes that will help you find hot content and expanded comments in several areas that will help you join the discussion quickly. Those are great new features but what I'm really excited about is that new box on the right called "Featured BlogHer".
BlogHer is a bustling active community and "Featured BlogHer" will help us show our love and appreciation for all that you do here. Besides expressing our deep geeky love for all of you, our goal is to drive readers, traffic, and visibility to your blogging with this extra bit of link love.
Are you wondering what it takes to become a "Featured BlogHer"? It's pretty easy, you just need to do three things:
1. Log into BlogHer.com and upload a photo or an avatar. (Click "My Account" --> "Account settings" --> scroll down to the photo upload area--> select an image on your computer --> scroll down and submit the photo.) Your photo must be at least 160x160. If you have problems, send me an email denise@blogher.com and I'll help you figure out what's going wrong.
2) Log into your Public Profile and update your bio and the sites info. (Click "My Account" --> "Public Profile" --> enter a bio --> click "sites" --> fill in urls/feed urls for any online presences you'd like to share --> scroll down and submit your changes.)
3) Be a visible member of the community. That means blog on BlogHer, leave comments on BlogHer, or be active in the Forums on BlogHer.
We launched with Candelaria Silva as our "Featured BlogHer" and I hope you'll click her name and check out her blog posts, she's an awesome blogger - you'll love her.

Got me there
Reading this post got me straigh away thinking;
"Yes, I do" and "No, I can't".
Pride of my blog and then that darn feeling of I can't promote myself comes up, all that in a split second.
Thanks Denise! this put me in a spot, thinking what do I want.
However I wrote this week about intent and my intent is to play and contribute, so here I am with my "yes" and "no". :)

You can't promote yourself...
This is something that a lot of women feel, so don't feel like you're the only one. But, what's really interesting is that you don't have to work that hard to promote yourself here - all you have to do is participate by writing about topics that you love, commenting on posts that interest you, having discussions with others within the community.
You don't have to actively SELL yourself in order to sell yourself, ya know?

My first thought was
My first thought was there's forums? Where? How did I miss that?
My second thought was "Pick me, Fat Cat!"
(OK, that last thought may be lost on you if you missed out on quality Australian children's shows of the 80's, but I hope you get the point).
I have now found the forums, and I'm off to find a photo that is a suitable avatar for me. Yay!
Not many forums, but a few.
We had more but scaled down awhile back. Are you a "forum" lover?

I am a forum lover
but currently don't really have one I use a lot.
I did think the Blogher forum was quite small - and also, sadly for me, very US focussed. But I will keep an eye on it : )
I think I have a recipe for that...

Awesome. I am a big promoter
Awesome. I am a big promoter of my blog but often find I run out of time between blogging, promoting, being a single Mom of 5 and all that goes along with that! I don't get to BlogHer nearly enough and when I do, I love it! I'm in the hospital right now recovering from my 3rd knee reconstruction this year post car accident and I BlogHer is a great diversion. I'll be sure to keep it at the top of my to-do list!

I assume all/most bloggers here would love this kind of exposure so, 1) how do you choose between all your memebrs who fulfill those 3 steps you ask for, and 2) how long will the "featured" be featured - one day or longer then that?
