Your Energy and Your Electronics: Why They Don't Always Play Nice
By Jordana Van on September 24, 2012
Ever had one of those days . . . weeks . . . months . . . when it seems that everything that uses an electric current is dying on you? You'll know if you have, because you'll recall it as one of the most expensive periods of the year. Sometimes, it really is that the appliances all just happen to have worn out at the same time. Sometimes, your home’s wiring may be having issues and your appliances are being shorted out by power-surges.
And sometimes, it’s you. Yes, YOU. Allow me to provide you with the following examples: The night before my stepfather passed away suddenly of a heart-attack, the ancient coffee maker he had been intrepidly nursing for years and years finally quit at last. He pronounced it dead, and the following day, so was he (I believe we choose our time to go, so this is not intended to be morbid). The day my grandmother died, the toaster oven she had purchased for us—which was a humungous gift at the time and which we always associated with her—spontaneously quit working for no apparent reason. During the time another relative was very unhappy (and I suspected his energy might be considering leaving this life), an appliance he purchased for me, which has worked perfectly without fail for almost 30 years, began to act up. Its volume kept decreasing and decreasing, and sometimes it sounded as though it were coughing. When this relative found new purpose for his existence, the appliance went right back to normal. These are only three of the most recent examples; I’ve actually experienced dozens of such events.
Energy affects everything my darlings. This is why, when I am having a bad day, I spend most of the next replacing lightbulbs. If I’m about ready to explode, so are they—and they usually do. Computers don’t work (and don’t get me started on the printer), cars start making suspicious noises, the coffee maker doesn’t self-start when it’s supposed to . . . The list goes on and on.
However, there is another, more positive side to all this. When you have been at the same energetic vibration for a very long time (think same life-situation, same mindset and attitude), the electronics in your house are vibrating with you. Again, it’s all energy! When you suddenly take on a higher vibration (you get a new, exciting job; you become a happy parent; you enter into a new, joyful relationship), your appliances no longer resonate with you—they’re still vibrating with the old you. Some can tolerate this and will begin vibrating at your level, and some (alas, it always seems to be the pricey ones) won’t.
In my home, next to our computers, there is no harder-working appliance than the oven. This is because everything here is home-made, and usually home-baked. This also means that when the oven stops functioning, it’s somewhat of a crisis. Yesterday, the electric oven quit. Just—suddenly—dead. I didn’t even realize it until I left the broiler to heat, and upon returning, was not greeted with a blast of heat when I opened the oven door. For a few tense minutes, I rather think my brain stopped working as well. What on earth was I going to do without an oven for however long it was going to take them to deliver one? How much was this going to cost? How the heck did this happen? It was fine! It wasn’t that old! And, everyone’s fave, Why me? My husband, who can fix anything, took it apart and found several likely problems. He then pronounced it more cost-effective to replace. When Superman Hubby says it shouldn’t be fixed, it’s gospel.
So we had sandwiches for dinner, and with food in my tummy (which was making quite a fuss by this point), I was able to calm down and reevaluate the situation. It’s not like I haven’t been in a similar one fifty times before.
As I have just launched several new and exciting ventures and undergone an amazing healing, rather than being a crisis, my oven’s massive meltdown is actually an indication that my energy has upgraded, and I can now expect more and more wonderful things to come to me. Thing One shall be the oven itself. It will arrive in a week, and it has some incredible features that I didn't know even existed until today. Woo-hoo for steam-cleaning and hidden heat elements and special surfaces dedicated solely to warming!
So the next time an appliance waves the white flag, and most especially if more than one do so at the same time, ask yourself what is going on. Are you shorting everything out because you are unhappy . . . or are you happier than ever? Either conclusion should tell you everything you need to know about your energy. And don’t worry about the cost of replacing it—as it always does, the Universe will find a way to take care of it.
