On Friday, September 11th, MizFit tweeted about a challenged created by Christopher Penn: In Your Last Hour What Would You Write?
Basically,
the challenge is to write the letter you would write if you had but an
hour to live, like many of those stuck in the WTC attacks eight years
ago (from the time the second plane hit Tower Two, to the time that
building collapsed was about one hour). It was a challenge I felt quite
moved to try and I think I successfully got my feelings, thoughts, and
ideas down. The letter sounds like a large cliche, however, its true to
what's in my heart and I thought it would be nice to post it here.
"I am going to die. I There is so much I want to say to you. Where do I begin? To Olivia… First I I I Please Become No If you become a mother, be a good mother. Love your children. Treat them respectfully. Teach them to respect themselves. Respect Never take the path of least resistance. Travel the world. Go diving in the Bermuda Triangle. Scale Mount Everest. Run a marathon. Do what’s hard. It is those hard things that will make your life worth living. I
am aware that I am going to die here, but that I am not afraid. I’ve
made my peace with God and I know that He will welcome me into his arms
once I am dead,so see…there is nothing to fear.
off, I want you to know that I love you. Even with all the yelling and
the screaming, I have never stopped loving you, nor could I. For the
short time we were together, I have been amazed by the person you have
become and the person I know you will be.You have never disappointed
me. You have never let me down. You have never made me question whether
you were worth it. I lived for you!
want you to listen to your father. He can be a bit short tempered at
times, but he loves you and you must trust him. He will not always know
the right way, but he will try always try his best.
want you to trust, also, yourself. Only you know what is best for you
and as an adult you will have to find your way to your own happiness.
Never let anyone tell you what you“should” be doing. Live for you, no
one else.
don’t want you to live in fear. If you find something that does scare
you, hit it head on. Don’t let your fears stop you from living a full,
successful life. Go after your dreams,no matter how unachievable they
seem. It is through those struggles that you will find your strength. I
struggled through life for a very long time, but I would not have
changed it for anything.
remember that “character is who you are when no one is watching”. If
you find you have the opportunity to get away with something – DON’T!
Even if you don’t get caught, God is looking. And that karma that comes
back to bite you will leave you infected with guilt. It’s not worth it.
a role model to yourself. Don’t look to celebrities to find your self
worth. Your personal value comes from within. Decide what type of
person you want to be and be that person.
matter what anyone says, you don’t have to be married to have a happy,
fulfilled life. Marriage is a commitment, a giving of yourself that is
very difficult and not meant for everyone. Don’t be dependent on a man
for your happiness. That comes from within and if you cannot find it in
yourself, you will DEFINITELY not find it in a man. Find yourself
first, and if a good man comes into your life, so be it.But don’t
depend on it.
a good education.Meet people who can lift you up, give you knowledge,
and teach you how to grow.Listen to the lessons of your elders and more
experienced.
don’t want you to cry,or feel too sad about my death. Know
