Yun rented a house by a lagoon in Victoria. Yun loves water, especially the sea. It is her plan to have a house by the beach. But for now, visiting a beach once in a while will do.
Every afternoon, she will go rowing with the kids. The following is not a fairy tale, but a true story….. A love story written on the water.
It was a late afternoon. The sun has half shaded across the lagoon. Three of them; Yun’s niece Sasha, her son Gavin and herself flowed out to the lagoon, towards the open water. Gavin, the captain, is in charge of steering the boat, Yun, the sailor, paddles as he commands. Sasha, the princess, is collecting seaweed as they flow on chatting her melodies.
There is no one on the lagoon but them. The beautiful blue sky silhouettes the Canadian geese when they fly by chanting. Yun is so taken by the beauty and peace of the scene that she often forgets about her duty of paddling.
In the middle of the lagoon, there is a ball flowing and lots seaweed is caught around it. The princess says, “Let’s go there” and the captain immediately gives the order to the sailor, “Right paddle towards the seaweed”.
Yun paddles hard, wanting to get closer to the flowing ball so the princess can easily scoop up the seaweed. But the attempt fails, and the princess only gets a thin string of seaweeds. She is sad and pouting.
“Look what I got,” here comes the voice of the captain who sits at the back of the boat. He is waving a handful of seaweeds at the princess, and the princess is beaming, “You have saved my life, captain! Your majesty is very satisfied! I will report this to the king, and we shall married.”
Now the captain’s face has turned bright red. He lowers his head inside the jacket, totally forgetting about his duty of steering. The boat is wandering aimlessly into the lagoon. The sailor steps in to take in charge. She makes her own decision to head back to the palace.
The Princess says to the captain, “You are the best captain in the world. Your majesty will marry you.” The captain says red faced, “Please stop talking about it! People can hear it.”
The sailor paddles the boat fast to the shore, and the captain and the princess immediately step out the boat hand in hand, leaving their duties and the sailor behind.
Indeed, the Princess and the Captain have turned into soldiers and joined two other cousins in the battle against monsters. The transition was seamless! “Indeed,” the sailor murmurs to herself while dragging the boat to the dock, “Forget about love on the sea,it is time to move on to the battle on the shore.” There are monsters to fight!
The fairy tale goes like this….and they all lived happily ever after!
