Jessica Hall of Sleepless Mom Says, Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff

Hi jessica – thanks for joining us! Tell us a little about yourself and sleepless mom.
Where do I even begin, let’s start out at the age of 19 when I decided I wanted to be in the entertainment business. I booked my very first audition for a show called “Burned” on MTV. I thought, fantastic I made it, well not so much. I was very lucky to have booked my first job but it didn’t come easy even after that. I worked 3 jobs from the age of 20 to 23, until I was able to work steady in the entertainment business. I continued to work hard and even did lots of free jobs just to understand the craft like radio hosting.
I had the pleasure of TV hosting from E! Entertainment to TV guide channel and many more. I went on to host my own radio show on Sirius/Xm and did 5 seasons of Reality TV. I always maintain good relationships in the business which eventually led me to being able to invest in a restaurant called Sugar Taco and become a part-owner of BB Lifestyle. I love the fact I can be a businesswoman, influencer, blogger, wife and mom, I have never felt so empowered and definitely proves hard work pays off.
We LOVE sleeplessmom.com — what inspired you to start your blog?
Never. Getting. Any. Sleep — lol.
I was up a lot with my daughter and would read so much on line at 2am, while breastfeeding. There was so much stuff out there that I felt I couldn’t relate to or I just wanted an honest answer from a real mom. I created a platform where we can be real talk about screw ups to the products that we really need. It just became an outlet for me to just have my own identity and express how I felt being a sleepless mom.
has your blog evolved since you started?
Yes for sure! It really has and also I feel like I built a community of honest real women that can come on there and guest write and have a safe place to be able to talk about what they are going through.
What are you most proud of when it comes to Sleepless Mom?
The authenticity of it and how easy it is to be able to write about anything I want and have a community of women who can relate.
Name something you wish someone had told you when you were just starting out.
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Don’t worry what people think, you will be exactly who you were meant to be.

We love that you invest in small businesses – what do you look for when choosing someone to work with?
Someone who has maintained morals and values in this crazy industry. You can get lost and it’s not always easy to find your way back. Someone who can be honest about their journey and realize hardships happen but can always rise up, good karma.
Your team is killing the content game. How did you know you were hiring the right people?
When someone believes in you, you start to believe more in yourself and you don’t want to disappoint yourself or them. So I like to work harder and it always comes back full circle.
Let’s talk “Screw Ups” — I love this section on your blog. What advice do you have for moms on rolling with the punches and forgiving yourself for the screw-ups?
Oh man the screw ups happen more than I’d like to admit! But, I know it’s gonna always be fine. If your kids are loved and happy you are winning. That was hard for me to grasp and when I finally let go of thinking I needed to be the perfect parent I felt free and so much happier.
What are your must-have mama products this season?
I love so many! Beauty Wise by Ilia (tinted moisturizer), Real Her’s Eyebrow Pencil, BB Lifestyle Recovery Gel, Face Oil Glow-topia, Aloisia Beauty facemasks, Wander Beauty’s Lip Retreat, and Cocu Luxx’s Coconut Oil with CBD.
Let’s talk about your brand-new podcast! What’s been the most rewarding part of this endeavor? What’s been the most unexpected?
I absolutely love being a part of Action Park Media. It’s owned by Kevin Connolly and we been friends for a while. He believes in me so much, we created flashbacks together and I have to say it’s been the best experience I have had so far in the radio world. Having all my friends come in and reminisce has been so amazing

Name a woman (or a few!) who’ve helped you and sleeplessmom.com get to where it is today?
My sister, Stacie is so awesome and has always supported me. Good Carma Studio threw me the ultimate launch party for it.
How did you build your Instagram following?
Just being me and I’m pretty proud of that. I connect with so many that follow me and it’s so rewarding!
What’s the best part about being a member of the SHE Media Partner Network?
I was beyond honored when I was ask to be a partner. It seriously was my goal and I couldn’t be happier to have the blog where it is today and a team like SHE Media to back it.
